Urban Chapel

This assignment first dealt with the mapping of a site, Seminary Park, using some phenomenon related to light in order to site a chapel. Based on the mapping of different trees classified by leaf type and canopy density, the chapel is sited beneath a stand of pine trees in order to let in consistent light all year round. The chapel consists of geometric "light columns" buried in the ground, meant to glow both beneath the ground during the day and above the ground at night. Visitors cannot truly experience the chapel unless they are inside a light column, which are the only sources of light along an undertround tunnel.
